TRIBAL ART-PRIMARY ARTS-AFRICAN ART MONOXYL SCULPTURE LUBA ETHNICITY DR CONGO/ZAIRE CENTRAL AFRICA EARLY 20TH CENTURY MALE STATUETTE Male statuette in solid monoxyl wood, votive statuette, hunting charm, protection, with copper inclusion (navel and eyes). It comes from the Luba ethnic group, near the Kathanga River, in DR Congo/Zaire, in Central Africa. The hands are gathered on the stomach/navel (the breast/center of the body) with a copper inclusion. The tripartite hair/headdress is very worked, the eyes are prominent, the feet wide and powerful, well placed/anchored to the ground. Monoxyl sculpture. Dark brown patina.
