"Painting Of The Holy Family"
Important oil painting on canvas depicting the Holy Family during the flight into Egypt interpreted here with touching humanity and a sense of movement. The Virgin Mary, wrapped in a large blue cloak and pink tunic, leads the scene with a gentle gesture, while Saint Joseph, in a mustard robe and dark cloak, follows her with a walking stick and a gaze turned towards her. Among them the young baby Jesus, in a light robe with a red belt, walks barefoot, holding onto his mother, in an affectionate and protective gesture. Above the scene, a beam of divine light descends from the sky, symbol of celestial protection, surrounded by a choir of cherubs with expressive faces. The spiritual atmosphere is strengthened by the softness of the volumes, the elegance of the drapery and the chromatic delicacy, in particular in the pink and blue tones of Mary's dress.
Central Italy, 17th century.
