Regency Period Armchair, Small Point Tapestry, Early 18th Century
Beautiful Regency period armchair in richly carved and molded natural wood, early 18th century. Our seat was originally a cane armchair, it was then relined probably at the end of the 18th century or very beginning of the 19th century in the traditional way. It was then covered with a very fine tapestry embroidered with small stitches decorated with plants and a basket of flowers. It presents a beautiful work of sculptures and moldings on all of its woodwork. The legs (including a restored rear one) are joined by an X-shaped spacer itself carved with a flower in its center. The whole is in very good condition, wear and restorations of use are obviously present on this seat. An old consolidation is present under the spacer (see photo 8) The upholstery is in good condition and does not require immediate repair. The upholstery fabric with small stitches shows small wear and lacks without seriousness given its age (see photo 11) Beautiful seat with a good patina whose minor restorations have managed to preserve all its authenticity and character.
