This female artist, born on February 4, 1888, was a student of Ferdinand HUMBERT at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She mainly painted during the 1920s and 1930s and regularly took part in the Salon des Artistes Français.
She is listed in the BENEZIT dictionary.
She exhibited in several Parisian galleries as well as in Algiers.
Drawn to the colors and landscapes of North Africa, she is regarded as an Orientalist painter.
Our canvas, with its Fauvist palette, is painted with thick impasto; the light, the intensity of the sun, and the vivid southern colors are beautifully captured.
