The works of Jules Raymond Koenig are quite rare on the market. He was a painter of urban landscapes and scenes of Parisian life, mainly active during the Belle Époque (circa 1890–1910). He is best known for his depictions of Parisian public gardens. As evidenced by this oil on panel, his style mixes naturalist and post-impressionist, with particular attention paid to light, colored shadows, and social life.
