Very beautiful solid silver snuffbox, hallmark Vieillard profile of Michelangelo (1819-1838), hallmark Lion's head and goldsmith's hallmark (largely erased & illegible).
A very beautiful, richly worked model, the lid monogrammed JD I think. Curiously, this snuffbox seems to have been offered on the occasion of a first communion as mentioned in the chiseled text on the back of the lid. Length: 7.5 cm / Width: 4.8 cm / Height: 1.4 cm Weight: 84.59 g
