The medal is inscribed in a heart-shaped surround formed of small flowers in blue plique-à-jour enamel. Signed BECKER. French work from the Art Nouveau period circa 1900. Presence of the eagle's head hallmark for 18-carat gold and the maker's hallmark. Edmond Becker (1871-1971) is a major name in medals in France. He obtained a gold medal for his medals presented at Boucheron during the 1900 World's Fair.
