Mahogany Burl Dressing Table, Restoration Period – Early 19th Century
Dressing table in burl mahogany with geometric marquetry. This small piece of furniture has a top made of a single burl mahogany board, accompanied by a frieze of small lemon tree squares and rosewood triangles. The apron has identical precious wood marquetry and has a drawer closing with a working lock accompanied by its original chiseled key. A hook lock allows the upper flap to be closed. The latter is equipped with a large mirror surrounded by a molded rod and is held by original knee compasses. The interior of this dressing table has a storage space topped with a sliding mahogany shelf. Finally, this piece of furniture rests on S-shaped legs with volutes at the top and bottom.
