Small Lacquered Wood Work Table, Louis XV Style – Late 19th Century
This lacquered wood work table has a hinged, ogee-shaped lid decorated with a polychrome painting of a gallant afternoon in the gardens of a castle. This lid, providing access to a small storage space, locks with an original functional lock with a plant entrance and its key. The belt is cut and also has painted motifs of foliage and scrolls. The whole rests on four legs called "whiplash" and are dressed with acanthus leaf falls profiling at the edges in fine bronze moldings ending in small sabots.
