"Small Rosewood Marquetry Display Bookcase, Louis XV Style – Early 20th Century"
An elegant Louis XV style display cabinet with two glazed doors featuring sinuous contours, highlighting the delicate curves and the Rococo spirit of the 18th century. The front is sumptuously inlaid with rosewood leaves arranged in butterfly wings, enriched at the bottom with a floral motif in light and stained wood, revealing refined and masterful craftsmanship. The finely chiseled gilt bronze keyhole escutcheons frame a functional lock, complete with its matching key. The interior features three large adjustable shelves on racks, their edges also inlaid, demonstrating meticulous attention to every detail, even the most subtle. The cabinet is crowned with a sculpted marble top with a crow's beak edge, adding a contrasting mineral touch to the richness of the wood. The curved uprights are adorned at the top with gilt bronze drops depicting acanthus leaves, while the entire edge of the piece is highlighted by a brass molding, ending in finely sculpted bronze feet. At the bottom, a cut and undulating crossbar accommodates a bronze fitting decorated with scrolls and acanthus leaves, reinforcing the decorative harmony of the whole. A distinctive piece, both functional and decorative, ideal for showcasing works of art or collections in a refined interior.********Period: Early 20th century.
