Oak Sideboard, Gustave Serrurier-bovy Style, Art Deco - 1930
A rare oak sideboard, inspired by the creations of Gustave Serrurier-Bovy, combining geometric rigor and decorative refinement. Its silhouette is distinguished by a central projection that enlivens the façade and asserts its architectural character. This projection is formed by two blackened wood columns, each punctuated by brass rings at the top and bottom - a detail emblematic of Serrurier-Bovy's aesthetic, where the dialogue between wood and gilded metal plays an essential role.
The upper part houses two curved drawers, each with a drop handle and brass lock. At the bottom, two doors open onto an Art Deco geometric veneer décor of mother-of-pearl and stained wood inlays. Their fronts, curved to follow the lines of the cabinet, are fitted with functional locks, a fan key and a discreet pull.
The overall impression is one of sophisticated sobriety, where the warmth of the oak, the precision of the veneer and the metallic accents are balanced in a spirit that is both Art Deco and faithful to the influence of Serrurier-Bovy. A piece of furniture that combines elegance, structure and a sense of detail.
