Anthropomorphic Jacquot or Toby jug pitcher in blue glazed earthenware in the shape of a seated grotesque figure, 19th century, Delft. Also called Tobyjug, this whimsical ceramic pitcher is shaped like a full-body jovial figure, seated and dressed in a tricorn hat, frock coat, and breeches, holding a mug and a pitcher. Very good overall condition, without cracks or restorations. With some tiny enamel chips located on the boots, the pitcher and on the back. Light and even wear, consistent with the age of the piece. Signed at the bottom. Dimensions: 26cm high (10.24 inches), 10cm wide (3.94 inches) and 17cm long (6.69 inches).
