Frédéric Chopin, Bust In Glazed White Porcelain, After Raphaël Nannini (1852–1925)

Artist: D’après Raphaël Nannini
Bust of Frédéric Chopin, in glazed white porcelain, after a model by the Italian sculptor Raphaël Nannini (1852–1925). The composer is depicted in bust form, his head slightly inclined, his features softened, and his hair finely wavy, in an interpretation faithful to the Romantic iconography of the early 20th century. The precise and balanced modeling testifies to Nannini's characteristic naturalistic sensibility, whose portraits are distinguished by their academic elegance and subtle attention to expression. The smooth, glossy surface of the porcelain highlights the purity of the forms and lends the piece a luminous presence. Inside, an old paper label remains, probably affixed by a previous owner; preserved as is, it constitutes an interesting documentary element, attesting to the work's history and its domestic provenance. Dimensions: height 27 cm; width 17 cm; depth 14 cm. Weight: 1.9kg. A refined decorative piece, representative of the European taste for effigies of great composers, and of careful porcelain work in the first half of the 20th century.
