18th Century Cutlery Box, Donkey Skin And Brass, Coat Of Arms
Amazing trapezoidal cutlery box, from wood, covered with black and grainy donkey skin, hinges, hasp lock, handle and coat of arms are brass.
Inside was a set of 6 silver cutlery, knife, fork and spoon, placed in pink silk velvet housings surrounded by braided silver thread ribbons. A beautiful gold patterned paper adorns the rest of presentation.
Work from Northern Europe, Germany, Flanders, Hanse, circa 1740.
Beautiful crowned coat of arms, eagle and rearing horse… 29cm x 17cm x 13cm. Weight: 2kg.
Condition: Overall good, but: some scars on leather are hidden, (red arrows), hasp is apparently not original, but it has the merit of existing, lock does not work, and above all: the cutlery is missing!
