Object description :

"Monstrance - Reliquary (true Cross), Gilded Copper, Tyrol XVIII, With Authentic Dated: 1855"
a very beautiful example of sacred art: Reliquary monstrance in repoussé copper with rocaille decoration, fire-gilded (mercury). The polylobed base, richly chiseled, presents motifs of baroque inspiration as well as plant decorations. The upper part is composed of three parts. 1. The radiating structure in gilded copper. 2. thin plate in silver? or silver-plated copper?, repoussé, decorated with fine openwork cutouts with rocaille decorations, set with small faceted glass cabochons in red and green. 3. In the middle of a polylobed frame, in copper, embossed with floral decoration, gilded, is a small reliquary capsule, housing in the middle a tiny fragment of the True Cross, accompanied by two relics labeled: "Tun Ste Clarae V. (from the tunic of Saint Clare) and "Cin S.Franc.As." (ashes of St. Francis of Assisi). In the hollow of the foot, under a hinged lid, is hidden the authentic episcopal, dated 1855 and a small religious patent. Sublime work of religious art of the Catholic cult in Austria (South Tyrol). Good condition.
