"Monstrance Reliquary “s. Mauricy M.”, Carved And Gilded Wood, South Tyrol, 18th Century "
Reliquary monstrance of Saint Maurice finely worked in carved wood with gilded surface. Baroque style, richly decorated with openwork motifs of foliage and scrolls, with a central oval shaped ( 6,5 x 7,5 cm)medallion protected by a glass pane, housing a labeled relic of Saint Maurice (S. Mauricy M.), martyr and patron of the Theban Legoina. Surmounted by a cross, it rests on a polylobed foot with finely carved foliage decoration. Intended for liturgical use by the Catholic Church in Austria, probably South Tyrol in the 18th century. In restored condition (=fake gilding).
