Tray Or Centerpiece In Solid Silver And Glass In The Louis XV - Louis XVI Transition Style.

Superb glass tray or centerpiece mounted in a wide solid silver frame.

The tray is oval and fretted. The base is made of glass. The solid silver rim is decorated with a pearl frieze, a channel motif, and a molded inner border that allows the base to be held in place with screws.

The tray rests on four small oval feet decorated with a pearl frieze.

Twelve screws hold the glass base in place.

Both silver parts are hallmarked with the Minerva 1st standard from before 1973 for 950/°° silver.

I was unable to find a silversmith's mark.

A superb tray, whose combination of glass and silver gives it great elegance.
