Henri PEINTE (1845-1912) Paris, circa 1890. "Sarpedon" Lycian hero who took part in the Trojan War against the Achaeans, bow in hand, quiver and arrows at his feet.
Proof in bronze with brown patina by the founder Siot Decauville.
Signed on the terrace and titled on the front, Siot Decauville foundry stamp and numbered 5743.

Henri Peinte (Cambrai 1845 - Paris 1912)
A student of Francisque Duret, Eugène Guillaume and Jules Cavelier at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he made his debut at the Salon in 1877 with Sarpédon and won the Grand Prix in 1889 at the Exposition Universelle.
Represented at the Musée de Cambrai, Musée du Luxembourg, Musée d'Orsay.
