A student of Francisque Duret, Eugène Guillaume and Jules Cavelier at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he made his debut at the Salon in 1877 with Sarpédon and won the Grand Prix in 1889 at the Exposition Universelle.
Represented at the Musée de Cambrai, Musée du Luxembourg, Musée d'Orsay.
