Having lost an arm during the First World War, he abandoned his profession as a jewelry engraver to devote himself to his passion: animal sculpture, becoming a direct carving sculptor. From 1921, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, as well as at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Artistes Indépendants, and in 1931 presented his impressive life-size bronze Black Panther at the Colonial Exposition.
