Wooden display case decorated with marquetry plaques with figurative motifs in the lower part and gilt bronze appliques. It has three glass fronts that reveal the interior. It is covered with a red fabric and has two glass shelves. These marquetry scenes depict figures in landscapes, reminiscent of oriental works. The bronze appliques and the domed shape of the lower part show Rococo influences. The Louis XVI style is considered, in France, a movement within Neoclassicism and extended from around 1760 to around 1789 (although works inspired by this style were created in the 19th century). The Directoire style succeeded it. It is characterized by its influences from ancient Rome and Enlightenment thought. In the French school, the style that shows Rococo influences is known as Louis XV, and it also inspires works in the 19th century, which receive the same name. -
