Pair Of Centerpieces. Glazed Porcelain, Wood, Textile, Etc. Meissen, Germany, C. 19th Century

Pair of centerpieces. Glazed porcelain, wood, textile, etc. Meissen, Germany, probably second half of the 19th century, modeled after Acier.
With marks on the base. They have hairs and flaws; flaws on the base.
Two elaborate figures of glazed porcelain each rest on a circular carved wooden base decorated with neoclassical elements and covered with red fabric, surmounted by three spheres. The centerpieces are protected by two clear glass cloches, probably blown judging by the bubbles visible at the top. The marks on the base (blue) of both centerpieces are those used by Meissen between 1815 and 1924. They also have other incised elements. The piece depicting three gallant couples around a tree is based on a model dated 1772 by Michael Victor Acier (1736, Versailles-from 1799), who worked in Meissen from 1762 and is often called "Gardeners around a Tree." The one with the two musicians and the two dancing couples around a tree is based on another model by Acier dated the same year. In both cases, examples inspired by these 18th-century works were produced throughout the 19th century, with particular popularity in the second half, varying in colors and small details.
