Jacques Lalande was born in 1921 in Chateaurenard in Provence, he studied at the Beaux-Arts of Montpellier then from 1946 to 1947 at the Beaux-Arts of Paris in the Atelier de Souverbie. Jacques Lalande's work is characterized by a blend of Impressionism and modern techniques; his works often reflect a vibrant use of color and a unique take on everyday subjects. He has held several solo exhibitions: in Paris at the Galerie des Saussaies in 1952, and at the Galeries Bussières in 1959. In 1971, at the Salon des Artistes Français, his work was awarded an honorable mention. His paintings were chosen for group exhibitions in Lyon in 1950 at the Galerie Contraste and in Toulouse in 1954 at the Galerie Charpentier. The paintings from Lyons Gallery have been exhibited in numerous American galleries and are part of important collections in Europe and the United States. Jacques Lalande is a storyteller; it is his fantastical imagination and limitless subjects that make Jacques Lalande a great artist. In a charming French style, Lalande captures the viewer's imagination, depicting life as he sees it through his paintings, from soft and graceful ballerinas to a mother's love for her child, the mystique of masked dancers at a Venetian ball, and the dreamlike reflections of French ladies refreshing themselves by the sea. It is worth noting that his great love of music is delightfully reflected in all his themes.
