"Egg Cup In Majolica Slip, Hen In Nest Brooding Its Chicks, Georges Dreyfus, Circa 1900"
Georges Dreyfus, circa 1900: Hen in nest brooding her chicks. Terrine and its slip lid. Inside, a removable egg tray with six compartments. Signed on the base: Georges Dreyfus, Paris.
Exceptional quality, in very good condition.
Please note a fine firing line on the back, resulting from the manufacturing process, which does not compromise the integrity of the piece and remains invisible from the outside. There is also a tiny enamel chip on one of the chicks, as well as a hairline crack (both clearly shown in the photos with the black arrow). This type of crack occurs when the porcelain, still firing, contracts under the effect of a variation in temperature. Weight 1.8kg. Measurements: 27cm (10.62") long, 15.5cm (6.1") high and 18cm (7") wide.
