Set of Six Solid Mahogany Chairs – Victorian Era – England, 19th Century Elegant set of six English chairs from the Victorian period, crafted in finely worked solid mahogany. Each piece features a sculpted backrest adorned with stylized scroll motifs, resting on turned front legs and sabre-shaped rear legs. The seats have been carefully reupholstered in soft seafoam green velvet, perfectly complementing their refined silhouette. The padding is secured with traditional upholstery tacks, creating a noble contour that highlights the attention to detail and authentic finishing.
Each chair retains its original label beneath the seat: "From C. George & CompY. Cabinet, Chair, Upholstery, Bedding & Carpet Manufactory, 33 Oxford Street, W." This rare detail confirms the provenance and links the set to a renowned 19th-century English furniture maker.
The jute webbing under the seat is sturdy and functional. Handcrafted, it is woven in thick strips crossed in a tight grid to provide firm support for the seating. An ideal ensemble for a classic dining room or a collection focused on 19th-century furniture, these chairs showcase British craftsmanship and the elegance typical of the Victorian period.
They are in excellent structural and aesthetic condition. The seats are firm and comfortable, and the seafoam green velvet upholstery is in very good condition, with no snags or discoloration. The cushions have been thoroughly cleaned, and the entire set has undergone a complete revision to ensure outstanding stability and appearance.
