Ainu culture - 19th century. The curved wooden handle surrounded by thin sheets of cut metal and engraved with geometric patterns (slight lacks). The scabbard formed by two wooden elements assembled by plant fibers and decorated with hammered metal cabochon. The short and curved blade (significant oxidation and split). Dimensions: 79.5 x 4.5 x 2 cm. Dimensions with the base: 78 x 13 x 10 cm. Notes: The Ainu, also called Utari, are an indigenous people living in the North of Japan, notably on the island of Hokkaido.
