Large, astonishing and powerful pre-Columbian terracotta mask, eagle or raptor?
Fragmentary condition: the gray terracotta is very thick and suggests that it is a shard of a larger statuary group.
The mask was formerly mounted on a custom plexiglas display stand, colorless and translucent pexyglas for one part, and shiny opaque black for the other (some traces of scratches)
The statue, with its piercing gaze, has an incredible presence.
Dimensions:
* For the archaeological piece itself: 16.5 cm length x 10.5 cm depth (rounded shape) and 10 cm height
* and for the base 20 cm x 14cm depth, 20 cm height
Origin and precise dating unknown (thank you per advance for any help you could give me in identifying this missing information !)
