"Senufo Statue"
Seated female statue from the Senufo culture of Ivory Coast, with a distinctive cubist style. This statue could have been a protective statue used to promote fertility and social cohesion. The object appears to have been abandoned, as there are gaps and deterioration of the wood on the back of the statue. This also indicates a good age. The object is authentic and has some filling on the back. Comes from an old French collection, André Aeschlimann (1929-2016), Rochefort.
