Yoruba Egun Mask
Yoruba mask, Egungun (ghost cult) that was worn over elaborate costumes (weaving and beads). The carving style, with the exposed teeth and labret present on the lower lip, indicates a provenance from the Ekiti region of Nigeria. The object has a beautiful patina of use. It is authentic and has no restoration. Former collection of Charles Miller (USA), Bonhams sale 2022.
