A rare and important Persian-inspired cabinet mirror.
The glass panel is entirely decorated with polychrome enamels and gold applied using the hot-firing technique. It features a stylised, multi-lobed arched portico framing the central mirror panel. The spandrels, side panels and lower crossbar are adorned with a sumptuous interlacing of sinuous foliage, geometric motifs and stylised flowers in shades of turquoise blue, white, green and brick red against a gleaming gold background.
The piece is set in its original carved wooden frame, moulded with a frieze of arabesques in relief.
Austrian work. Art Nouveau period.
