Gilded Wood Mirror
The Jacques Cardin mirror factory was founded in 1874 at 51 rue d'Isly in Algiers.
It began with just a few workers, the workshops today number around fifty and feature a sophisticated electrical installation powering recently built machinery. Thanks to the kindness of the company's management, we have been able to provide two snapshots showing interior views during work.
The Astolfi, Redon, Cardin et Cie firm is the most important and at the same time the oldest in North Africa, manufacturing from scratch the magnificent stylish mirrors that can be admired in its windows on rue d'Isly and rue Tancrède.
The new directors have given this company, which, like so many others, had been deeply affected by the war, an impetus and a boom that are becoming more noticeable every day. Today, it handles everything related to the modern ice and glass industry, from large storefront mirrors to small handbag mirrors.
The new directors have succeeded in giving this company, like so many others that had been deeply affected by the war, an impetus and momentum that are becoming more noticeable every day.
With an aesthetic feeling to be applauded, she has renovated and made a specialty, where she excels more and more every day, of that Hispano-Moorish style so fertile in artistic combinations and of such prestigious effect.
