"Silver-gilt And Plique-à-jour Enamel Seal Georg Adam Scheid Gas 19th Century"
This beautiful and heavy seal is decorated with a bust of a young woman crowned with flowers, a bird on the shoulder in chased silver resting on a base with a gadrooned vermeil base. The bust is framed with silver volutes decorated with billets and enameled in plique à jour blue red yellow and green, characteristic of the work of the Viennese silversmith Georg Adam Scheid.
The seal bears the letters SFAX in cursive surmounted by three five-pointed stars.
Signed GAS at the base of the bust. Austria hallmark greyhound head on the other side.
On the rim above the gadroons, on one side a bigorne census hallmark and on the other an unidentified hallmark.
Superb condition, intact enamel!
Vienna period late 19th century circa 1880.
