The work is in fact located and dated on the back of the mount, with the painter's stamp. Here we recognize the characteristic vegetation of the region: tall fir trees, ash trees, trees and bushes that invade the banks of the rivers. A few buildings with zinc roofs are placed in the background on the right. The pale blue sky is reflected in the water of the river.
The work is signed lower left.
The work is in excellent condition. It is placed under glass and passepartout, in a modern gilded wood frame, also in excellent condition.
This painting was painted by Emile Wegelin, a Lyonnais painter known for his landscapes, done in gouache or oil. He favors mountainous landscapes and rivers. Before taking up painting, Emile Wegelin was a top-flight rower, winning a silver medal at the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris in the coxed four event.
