Alois Roth – View Of The Matterhorn – Oil On Canvas – Signed And Dated 1911

Good-sized oil on canvas depicting the Matterhorn in the Alps. In the foreground, we see mazots, Swiss alpine chalets. The characteristic silhouette of the Matterhorn stands proudly against a blue sky dotted with clouds, overlooking the valley.

The work is signed and dated 1911 in the lower right corner. It is in very good condition. It is offered in a modern frame, also in very good condition. A label with the name of the painter and that of the work appears on the back.

This work was painted by Alois Roth, a painter born in Munich in 1869. He specialized in landscapes and Mediterranean vedute (coastal villages, alpine sites, castles) as well as classical religious subjects. He died around 1930.
