Object description :

"Folding Sabotier Knife - Folk Art - 19th Century"
Pocket knife inspired by the so-called “Eustachien” model, designed in the late 18th century by cutler Eustache Dubois.
The handle, crafted from fruitwood, has been sculpted and pierced, housing the blade.
Its end features a clog-shaped ornement, a personalization reflecting the traditions of the sabotiers (wooden clog makers).
This piece is the result of craftsmanship that blends skill and a keen interest in cutlery. The knife is in good overall condition: light oxidation on the iron and a discreetly restored break on one of the four rods connecting the blade to the handle’s end.Dimensions:
Closed length: 9.4 cm
Open length: 15.6 cm
Handle thickness: 1.2 cm

France, 19th centuryPlease contact the gallery for any further information.
