An essential kitchen tool under the Ancien Régime, it is composed of an iron body with a suspension ring, used for sharpening knives.
The handle is fitted with two horn scales as well as two decorative silver elements depicting a winged cartouche.

The object is in very good condition, showing only light surface rust.
