Reliquary Of Saint Victorian – 18th Century
Our Regency-style Monstrance is made of finely carved and gilded wood, decorated with a large central heart, scrolls and acanthus leaves, palmettes, and flowers. Topped with a crown, it houses in its center a bagged ex-ossibus relic of Saint Victorianae surrounded by gold thread.
Victorianae suffered martyrdom in Carthage in 484. On the back, attesting to his recognition by the ecclesiastical authority, a seal protects the relic.
"Even if there were no other life than this present life, I would remain faithful to Christ from whom I have received so many benefits. Do not count on me to obey you, even if it cost me to be delivered to the flames or to the beasts."
Dimensions: 71 cm high by 30 cm wide and 13 cm deep for the terrace.
