"Oil On Canvas - Country Scene Of Cows In Their Pasture - By Louis Darey"
Charming oil on canvas depicting a herd of cows in a green pasture, sensitively painted by Louis Darey, a late 19th-century Charente animal painter. Born in Paris in 1848, Louis Darey later settled in Royan, Charente-Maritime, where he developed much of his work and became actively involved in local cultural life. A student of Van Marcke and Bernier, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1885, where he became a member. He also served as deputy mayor of Royan in charge of cultural affairs from 1912 until his death in 1917. This painting perfectly illustrates his attentive view of the rural world, with a soft palette and great mastery of animal rendering. The work is framed in a beautiful gilded wooden frame, which particularly highlights the composition and its bucolic atmosphere.
