Dance costume accessory made of braided plant fibers, cassowary feathers, shells, and pig teeth. Collected in Blackwater area in Papua New Guinea. This accessory represents a crocodile tail and was part of a huge costume performed by several dancers during an initiation ceremony. The crocodile is a totemic animal present in many founding myths, a prodigious animal, and a symbol of supreme power. Pig teeth are a symbol of prosperity. Unique piece sold with a presentation base.
