Very beautiful patina of use for this hand drum collected on the banks of the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea. Entirely engraved with tribal designs evoking totemic plants and animals. Hand drums or "kundus", very symbolic for the Papuans because they embody the voice of the ancestors, are difficult objects to acquire. Wood and natural pigments. Traces of use.
