EAMES chairs from the "Moulded Plywood" series
In 1945 Charles Eames, in collaboration with Eero Saarinen and Ray Eames, created the first LCW (Lounge Chair Wood) plywood chair which was exhibited at the MOMA in New York and manufactured by the Evans firm from 1946 to 1949. This factory was then taken over by Herman Miller from 1949 to 1957 which created other models such as the DCW (Dining Chair Wood) chair, and 2 other versions with metal legs, the LCM (Lounge Chair Metal) chair and the DCM (Dining Chair Metal) chair. These chairs, now reissued by Vitra, are design icons highly sought after by collectors.
