COCTEAU Jean (1889-1963)
Romanticist, painter, filmmaker... Cocteau was a complete artist. In 1957, his meeting with Marie-Madeleine Jolly and Philippe Madeline opened the door to ceramics. In 1958, he exhibited in their Villefranche sur Mer studio. Until his death, more than 300 works were produced there. His vases, dishes and other pottery feature lyre-women, angels and harlequins inspired by Greek mythology and a fairytale world, expressing his poetic genius.
