Organically shaped vase from the Verrerie de Biot, signed and dated Novaro 1985, simple, refined with the use of metallic powders, sand and pigments to create this unique effect. The gold and pink inclusions give particularly well-achieved contrasting shades.The Verrerie de Biot is a famous artisanal glassworks located in Biot, in the south of France, founded in 1956. Jean-Claude Novaro (1943–2014), a master glassmaker born in Antibes, worked from the age of 18 at the Verrerie de Biot, then opened his own workshop, while maintaining a strong identity linked to the tradition of Biot. He is considered one of the greatest French glassmakers of the 20th century.
