Baluster-shaped pewter CIMARRE with a high pedestal, quarter-round goblet, nippled lid with a spinning top and acorn thumb. It has a dangling ogee-shaped handle with rosette attachments.
ALBERT and DEVAUX hallmark.
Height: 25.8 cm
TROYES (Champagne), Circa 1830/40
Superb quality and condition
These vessels were intended for serving wine. They are very generally from Champagne. The first examples of a similar typology date from the Middle Ages, the model presented here comes from a Trojan mold from the second half of the 17th century used by ALBERT and DEVAUX active in TROYES until 1844. It is therefore in all respects identical to the editions from this mold made in the 17th and 18th centuries.
