Large Venetian Overmantel Mirror, 18th Century (louis XVI Period)

Refined Venetian overmantel mirror from the Louis XVI period (second half of the 18th century), fully carved, gilded and lacquered. What makes it truly unique is the division of the mirror into three separate panels – an uncommon and elegant choice that gives it a distinctive character, unlike the more common single-pane mirrors.
It is crowned by an elaborate and finely carved crest featuring a central oval medallion with a sculpted Medusa head, complete with serpents in place of hair. The decorative motif reflects the neoclassical and mythological style typical of Venetian craftsmanship of the time.
The mirror measures 160 cm in width and 128 cm in height. All three mirror panels are original, and the overall condition is good: considering its age and size, it presents itself very well and retains great visual charm.
