Art Deco Mirror Attributed To Raymond Subes
Artist: Raymond Subes
This exceptionally rare Art Deco mirror was made in Paris in the early 20th century, around 1920-1930. Crafted from wrought iron, it features fine, elegant details characteristic of the craftsmanship of Raymond Subes, one of the greatest French master ironworkers of the period. Although the piece is unsigned, the style, quality of the ironwork, and refined finish clearly indicate the Subes workshop. The mirror adopts an elegant Gothic-inspired form, with a pointed arch.
The frame is richly adorned with wrought iron scrollwork and floral motifs, emblematic of the refined Art Deco style. On either side of the mirror are two integrated sconces, which are not only functional but also contribute to the warm and luxurious atmosphere of the whole. At the bottom is a veined pink marble shelf, resting on a finely crafted wrought iron base with curved legs. The materials used—wrought iron, mirrored glass, and marble—testify to the high quality and durability of this piece.
The mirror is in excellent condition, consistent with its age and authenticity. The ironwork and marble top are intact and remarkably well-preserved. The lighting is fully functional and equipped with pink glass sconces. This mirror is a unique and impressive piece, both functional and decorative. It would find its place in a prestigious entrance, an elegant dressing room, or a refined living room. A true collector's item for lovers of French Art Deco and connoisseurs of exceptional ironwork.
