"Langeais Earthenware Flowerpot, Platinum Decoration, Signed Charles De Boissimon, 19th Century"
Langeais earthenware planter in creamy white with platinum highlights, signed in a cartouche by Charles de Boissimon & Compagnie de Langeais. The Langeais factory was created by C de Boissimon in 1839 and closed in 1916. In 1862, C de Boissimon filed a patent for "printing gold and platinum on vitrifiable materials", thus beginning the great period of Langeais with platinum decoration. This planter, whose two handles are movable, presents boudinage work imitating basketry, at the bottom and top decorated with berries. Beautiful platinum decoration of vine branches and bunches of grapes, C de Boissimon also being a winemaker. This planter is in perfect condition.
