"Terrestrial Globe By J. Forest, Late 19th-early 20th Century."
Terrestrial globe, at 1/65000000 (1 mm for 65 km), 'erected' and published by Joseph Forest in Paris (supplier of the Ministry of Public Education). This very complete globe is made of strong cardboard, covered with a printed world map. Thanks to a wheel, it turns on an inclined axis and rests on a turned wooden base placed on a circular plate. The whole is black lacquered with some traces of gilding. On the globe, indications of the 'possessions'; definitions of the symbols used (legend) and details from the publisher "FOREST 17-19 rue de Buci in Paris" Very good general condition for this instrument from the late 19th-early 20th century.
