He graduated from the sculpture department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts in Showa 2 (1927), and was selected for the first time at the 9th Imperial Exhibition the following year.
During his career, he exhibited his works numerous times and received numerous awards. He was also a member of the selection committee and director of the Japan Association of Wood and Plastic Sculpture.
He sculpted, among other works, the bronze statue of Takeda Shingen at Kofu City Station, Yamanashi Prefecture. Created in 1969, it weighs 5 tons and is six meters tall.
