Very large oil on canvas (183x145 with frame) representing an episode from Roman history "Coriolanus and Veturia". General Coriolanus, a figure of the archaic Roman Republic, comes to besiege Rome with the help of the Volscian people whom he has just defeated. His mother, Veturia, and his wife Volumnia accompanied by her children, come to beg him to spare the city. German school from the mid-18th century. Original frame to be restored.
