China - Pair Of Guan Mao Shi Dignitary Armchairs - 19th Century

The backs are decorated with openwork carved motifs including a deer (a sign of longevity) and a swastika (a cross popularly used in India due to the high sacredness that this sign represents in Hinduism, but also and especially in Jainism). The aprons supporting the belts are cut into arabesques. The seats are made of panels. Origin: China. Period: Late 19th - Qing. Dimensions: Height: 112 cm; Length: 66 cm; Width: 60 cm.
